I am directed to acknowledge the receipt of

your letter F 6266/5423/10 of the 18th of August on

the subject of the Chinese regulations concerning

Consular invoices and, with reference to paragraph 5 of

the telegram No.569 fram kis majesty's Representative

at Peking enclosed with that letter, to transmit to

you to be laid before acretary Sir John Simon, a copy

of a telegram from the Officer Administering the overmuen

of hong kong on the subject.

It is presumed that the British representative

in China will continue to press the Chinese authorities

for at least six months delay. I am to request you

to inform sir John Simon that the Governor's

suggestion as to the work in hong kong in connection

with the proposed system of consular invoices being
